Verdi: La traviata (2CD)

Over the course of her extraordinary career, Beverly Sills performed the role of Violetta in La traviata over 300 times, in her native US and in cities such as Venice and Naples. “In every moment she is Violetta, and a Violetta of infinite emotional and vocal scope,” wrote Opera magazine. For this recording, conducted by Italian maestro Aldo Ceccato, Sills was joined by the ever-elegant Nicolai Gedda as Alfredo, and Rolando Panerai, one of the great Verdi baritones of his time, as his father, Giorgio Germont.
