Rodgers & Hammerstein Songbook
Manufacturer Description
Digitally remastered edition. Two Time Tony Award winning actor Richard Kiley is most synonymous for creating the role of Don Quixote in the original 1965 production of Broadway musical Man of La Mancha, being the first performer to sing the show's signature song 'The Impossible Dream'. Despite a lengthy and distinguished career on Broadway, including originating roles in Kismet, Redhead, No Strings and I Had A Ball, Kiley only recorded one solo album. The Rodgers And Hammerstein Songbook was issued by RCA Camden in January 1960, the collection was presented as a double LP featuring a generous helping of Rodgers and Hammerstein standards from their classic musicals Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King And I, State Fair and Cinderella. The collection also included numbers from their lesser known works Allegro, Me And Juliet and Pipe Dream, presenting an extensive overview of Rodgers and Hammerstein's back catalog. Richard Kiley's Rodgers And Hammerstein Songbook double album now makes it's debut on CD, digitally remastered from stereo reel to reel tape.
