Horowitz: Return to Chicago [2 CD]

A world-premiere release on CD, this album contains the live recording from Vladimir Horowitz's final recital in Chicago's Orchestra Hall on October 26, 1986. The concert program begins with two Scarlatti sonatas before revisiting his favorite Mozart and Scriabin pieces. The second half brings new repertoire to the DG discography: the Schumann Arabesque and a Chopin Mazurka - 10 minutes of new Horowitz- before ending with a Chopin Scherzo and two evergreen encores.
