Manufacturer Description

Albert Johnson, aka Prodigy, has been a staple in the entertainment industry since his debut in 1993 as an integral part in undeniably one of the greatest hip-hop groups to date, the legendary Mobb Deep. Prodigy's verbal ability took center stage early in the original cult classic ''The Infamous,'' but little did the world know that we were merely indulging in delicious appetizers delivered. Prodigy will release the first installment of his new album series ''The Hegelian Dialectic'' on Jan 30, 2017. Hegelian dialectic, usually presented in a threefold manner, was stated by Heinrich Moritz Chalybaus as comprising three dialectical stages of development: a thesis, giving rise to its reaction, an antithesis, which contradicts or negates the thesis, and the tension between the two being resolved by means of a synthesis. Generally acknowledged as the more lyrically gifted member of New York hardcore rap duo Mobb Deep, Prodigy was born with a strong musical background. His grandfather, Budd Johnson and his great-uncle Keg Johnson are remembered for their contributions to the jazz bebop era. His mother, Fatima Johnson, was a member of the '60s r&b group The Crystals. Prodigy's major career break came in 1995 with the release of Mobb Deep's ''The Infamous.'' The album sold over 500,000 within the month of release and songs like ''Shook Ones'' and ''Survival Of the Fittest'' became instant classics. At the end of 1996, Prodigy and his Mobb Deep partner Havoc released ''Hell On Earth''; debuting at number six on the Billboard charts, the album established Prodigy as one of the true voices of East Coast hardcore rap. The group's next release, ''Murda Muzik,'' solidified the status of Mobb Deep as one of the most legendary names of seminal hip hop. Prodigy debuted as a solo artist in 2000 with the critically acclaimed platinum album ''H.N.I.C.'' He returned to the solo arena in 2007 with the official mixtape, ''The Return of the Mac,'' which also gained numerous music critics' accolades. in 2007, Prodigy released the followup album ''H.N.I.C. II.'' After a brief stay at 50 Cent's G-Unit label with Mobb Deep, in 2011 Prodigy released the critically acclaimed autobiography ''My Infamous Life; The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy.'' Co-written with writer and indie film producer Laura Checkoway, the book was published by Simon & Schuster. In 2011, Prodigy released a free EP called ''The Ellsworth Bumpy Johnson.'' The Ep was followed in 2013 by his collaboration album with long-time friend and producer, The Alchemist, ''Albert Einstein'' whose second installment is due out later this year. Since the release of 2014's ''The Infamous Mobb Deep,'' the group's eighth studio album, Prodigy has been touring internationally with the group doing over 125 shows per year. Meanwhile, his publishing company Infamous Books continues to add to his catalog of releases by several well established New York Times Best Selling authors. Prodigy's own novel ''H.N.I.C.,'' co-written with UK mystery writer Steven Sevile received very positive reviews. Prodigy recently put the final touches to ''Commissary Kitchen'' (due Fall, 2016), a book about food and nutrition with veteran scribe Kathy Iandoli. He is also in pre-production on ''Nightime Vultures,'' a TV show about food and travel.
