Manufacturer Description
Here's where it all began-Bob Marley's legendary Studio One recordings! Most of these 21 tracks-some of his rarest and most in-demand sides-have never been on CD; here are Rock Sweet Rock; Your Love; Do You Feel the Same Way Too ; the ultra-rare White Christmas ; the acoustic version of Where Is My Mother , and more, plus unpublished photos!
This assortment of rare and previously unreleased songs from the trio that later became the world's greatest reggae band offers insight into Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer's musical beginnings. Then known as Nesta Marley, Peter McIntosh, and Bunny Livingstone, the three teens recorded reams of ska, pop, soul, doo-wop, and any other style producer Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd requested. Dodd was the father of the Jamaican hit record in the '60s and his renowned Studio One was the home of his hit factory. Despite poor recording quality and a selection of mostly obscure tunes not found on other Wailers collections, this set will please the hardcore Wailers fan. Previously unreleased tracks are included as well as ska favorites "Don't Ever Leave Me" and "Do It Right." The ska cuts are the highlights; the doo-wop and American covers are worthy for the sake of history. If you're tracing the career of Bob Marley or the Wailers, this is essential to understanding their point of origin. --Karen Karleski
