Connecticut born pianist Craig Hartley marks his debut recordings for indie italian label Skidoo Records as one of the most interesting works of the year. Joined by bassist Carlo De Rosa and drummer Henry Cole, the young american pianist displays a book of his own compositions, in which he presents his vision of the trio: interplay, force, original concepts. There is also an interpretation ofa famous jazz standard, "My foolish Heart". On two tracks, he adds the Fabio Morgera'a Trumpet. Morgera hs discovered in New Yourk the talent of Craig Hartley and produced the original session. The composition are influenced by classical approach, as well as with jazz tradition, paced by masters as Bill Evans, Brad Meldhau and Craig's teacher and mentors as Mario Pavone, Jackie McLean, Anthony Braxton. On one track Craig demonstres to be able to write a real song with lyrics, sung by young guitarist and singer from Israeli, Dida Pelled. A very interesting debut!
